The Manchester group have found doubled their meeting attendence recently by combining the monthly meeting with a small event. They recently planned to show a film after the meeting and ended up attacting ~15 more people than usual.

The suggestion is that we make out meetings more interesting and attactive by showing a film, having a guest speaker or holding presentation etc. This would show that the meetings are not 'committee' meetings. People might not come along because they may feel that they have nothing to contribute. Give them something to come for other than their expectation of having to contribute something to a meeting (which they might find quite scary - public speaking and all!) who encourage them to come along without the fear of actually having to do something once they are there.

Yes - I thought this was a great idea, and aiming small to start with we could certainly do something of the type at the Just Church
BTW I think I got your suggestion right for this forum by your response, which is great,and thanx for that, and I hope that other attendees will contribute.
This could be invaluable in maintaining focus on what we are supposed to be about, rather than or as well as drifting off into other areas of speculation and so on

I think that in the near future, we should start to target Calderdale and expand to areas that we have omitted.

Calderdale College has a large Asian community that may well be interested in participating.

We should focus on the local issues. Making real change in our physical neighbourhoods. How is bog brother affecting you in your street, school and public spaces?

I will be up for an event, but i think it should focus on waking up and being active.
