This caused quite a stir today and it sounds as if Davis is trying to invoke a debate in the country.

On the surface David Davies seems right on
But as the Beeb says the heat has been pulled off Gordon.
The whole thing may be that Davies said that a Cameron government would pull the legislation, but Cameron realises he cant because it's a given order, in this present case to pull Brown's government down, in the future, to assist in the round up and detention of dissidents. I suggest Davies is a decent chap with no option. He'll also be downed with no opposition
The point is that Brown's government is being controlled and destructed from those above. His unpopularity is being used to implement fascist legislation. Cameron won't overturn any of that, though he'll be boosted economically for a while, while the Blair/Brown stuff takes hold

I think, if DD has a 'heart attack' anytime soon, we will know he was the genuine article and a man of principle, like Robin Cook and Tony Banks. Both vocally opposed the Iraq war and took a stand, both dropped dead from premature heart attacks while on holiday.

99% of e-mails to the BBC were in support of DD and opposed the destruction of Magna Carta. A timely terror attack would change that attitude! Although, the BBC reported that 70% of the public are in favour of Brown's proposal. He is the biggest lame duck PM we have ever had and his "failures" will propel the unelectable Tories back into power, as the electorate will vote Conservative to "punish" unpopular New Labour. How quickly they forget 17 years of hideous Tory sleaze.

Of course, when they are in government, the Tories will be more Draconian and hard line than ever and enforce Blair's 2,000 petty new laws to the max! (All crimes are arrestable offences.) The aim is for 90 days detention without charge, a sentence in itself. There are men who have been in Guantanamo without charge for three years. How long before people are just disappeared?
