Hi Rob and George. Good to be here after all the unpleasantness on the UK Forum. Whew! I'm glad out of it and just look forward to the time when our Ants takes over. I'm sure that things'll be different & a lot for the better when that happens.

People should be allowed to have different opinions & to express them. I'm really sad to see what's happened on the UK Forum but as they say sh!t happens ...

Meantime, let me tell you a little story of where I got the name "greengorilla".

Back in the 'nineties the Nairn Labour Party resigned en masse and recreated themselves as the Nairn Green Party! At that time I was campaigning to protect the dolphins & whales in the Moray Firth & went to a meeting of Greens & rejoined the Party (I've been in & oot of it several times).

Later, during the regional (county council) elections several Greens stood & yours truly got elected. It was a lonely task when you're just one. Anyway, one afternoon when the Water & Sewerage Committee were in session we Greens had a demo in the Council Chamber & stopped proceedings, during which my pal Des presented the Chairman with a Petition with loads of signatures on it from Nairn folk who were fed-up of all the turds on the beach.

For a while the Council was in chaos while Big Des was escorted out of the Chamber by the Security Guard. It was the first time that the Cooncil had been disrupted like that!

Later on the Nairnshire Telegraph, the local rag, described our direct action as "not so much that of green guerillas but gorillas," meaning, I suppose Big Des & me (we're both quite large). So I wrote back to the Nairnshire reminding their readers that gorillas are vegetarians & gentle creatures who are only riled when provoked unnecessarily!

So that's where I got the name which I proudly wear to this day! Other (nice) names folk called me was "the Green Man" (hooray!) and the "Jolly Green Giant". Aye, them were great days ...

(Gosling should have known better than to upset a greengorilla!)

Thanks, bro. It feels much more like home here than that other Forum. Must be Yorkshire warm-heartedness which I'm sure is still there even in these difficult days ...

So what will happen here when Ants and Paul take over the controls down south? (Can't wait!). Shall we go on anyway? (Good to have a fallback position?) Or will the two merge their archives?
